Founder's Biography and Message

Mr. R. Craig Doran, P.Eng.

Mr. Doran is a licensed Professional Engineer and began his safety career in 1987. In 1992, Mr. Doran founded En-Safe. Since then, En-Safe has provided professional safety training and consulting services to over 3,000 companies. Mr. Doran has designed and project managed safety programs and program elements for small, medium and large organizations in both the Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (ICI) and Construction sectors. Mr. Doran has also provided training to a number of educational institutions at the elementary, high school, college and university levels.

In addition to safety training and consulting, he also has extensive experience in workers’ compensation, environmental program design, spill response and remediation and emergency response. He has also conducted several accident/incident investigations including, but not limited to, fatalities, critical injuries, property damage, process loss and environmental issues.

When designing courses, Mr. Doran conducts extensive global research. He has attended numerous seminars, train-the-trainer courses, and manufacturer and supplier instruction sessions. All of En-Safe’s training courses are designed by Mr. Doran, and meet the American National Standard Criteria for Accepted Practices in Safety, Health and Environmental Training (ANSI Z490.1-2001) or they are in the process of being retooled to meet this standard.

Mr. Doran’s believes that safety is a form of insurance and part of the premium is safety training. En-Safe is recognized as a training organization but En-Safe is "more than just training". No organization wants to live through an incident and we feel that the majority believe that safety is paramount to profit. How can this be proven - "Due Diligence". En-Safe provides defensible training, but keep in mind that this training is just a part of the total system.

In response to a growing desire to provide tools for companies in need of a complete safety program element, “An ABC Guide to Best Practice” for Construction Heat was researched and published by Mr. Doran in 2004. In subsequent years, An ABC Guide to Best Practice for Confined Space and An ABC Guide to Best Practice for Working at Heights were created by Mr. Doran. Forms and templates have also been designed for ease of customization to meet specific site or company requirements. Designed for various levels of an organization but emphasizing protection for the site level.

Mr. Doran is an active volunteer in his community, and his primary focus is education outreach for children. In addition to school visits and talks to various community groups, he sits on several executives, committees, and sub-committees.

Fund raising activities sponsored by En-Safe or charity donations made throughout the year will continue to be directed to Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children, and more specifically to the Genetics Division - Dr. Weksberg's Genetic Research Fund.

Mr. Doran believes that En-Safe's clients deserve defensive training and value for their expenditure. En-Safe will make every attempt to meet these goals.
